Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara pelibatan politik masyarakat dan sikap tentang demokrasi terhadap toleransi politik di Desa Powalutan. Toleransi politik merupakan elemen fundamental demokrasi yang memungkinkan keberagaman pandangan hidup berdampingan, namun menghadapi tantangan serius di tingkat lokal akibat polarisasi dan mobilisasi identitas dalam kompetisi politik. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam terhadap informan kunci yang dipilih secara purposif, termasuk tokoh masyarakat dan calon legislatif. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola dan tema utama terkait pelibatan politik, sikap demokrasi, dan toleransi politik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelibatan politik melalui strategi komunikasi persuasif dan karakteristik personal positif kandidat dapat membangun toleransi ketika menekankan prinsip tidak saling menjatuhkan. Politik memiliki pengaruh pervasif terhadap kehidupan sehari, hari dan pemilihan kepala desa menjadi momen krusial yang seringkali menimbulkan gesekan antar kelompok, sehingga memerlukan pendewasaan politik masyarakat melalui penanaman sikap dewasa dan pemahaman tentang politik santun dan etis. Integrasi norma sosial lokal dengan praktik demokratis, terutama nilai kebersamaan dan kekeluargaan, menjadi strategi penting dalam membangun toleransi politik yang kontekstual dan berkelanjutan di tingkat desa.
