About the Journal

Balimau: Jurnal Budaya Lokal is a scientific journal dedicated to studying, documenting, and promoting local cultural wisdom in Indonesia. The name "Balimau" which comes from the Minangkabau tradition meaning spiritual cleansing and purification, reflects the journal's mission to "cleanse" and "purify" our understanding of the richness of local culture that is often forgotten in the era of globalization.
 
This journal applies a strict double-blind peer review system to ensure the quality and academic integrity of every article published. This journal accepts research articles that discuss various aspects of local culture in Indonesia, including local traditions and rituals, local wisdom and traditional knowledge, traditional arts and crafts, oral languages ​​and literature, local cuisine and gastronomy, social organizations and leadership systems, cultural and environmental ecology, and cultural revitalization and preservation efforts.
