Instructional media play a crucial role in the teaching and learning process by effectively and engagingly supporting the delivery of information. One innovative medium is the pop-up book, designed to enhance students' understanding of abstract concepts, such as the food chain in marine ecosystems. This book incorporates interactive three-dimensional elements, allowing students to visualize the relationships between producers, consumers, and apex predators more concretely. This study employs the demonstration method to showcase the process of creating and utilizing pop-up books in learning activities.
The results indicate that pop-up books provide an engaging learning experience, increase student involvement, and motivate them to understand the material better. The development of this media involves designing visual elements, constructing pop-up mechanisms, and adding descriptive text to each page. Furthermore, the demonstration method facilitates students in comprehending the learning steps through direct interaction.
Pop-up books also play a role in fostering environmental awareness, such as the importance of preserving marine ecosystems from threats like pollution and overfishing. Thus, the use of this medium not only enhances students' understanding but also creates a conducive, interactive, and relevant learning experience addressing environmental issues. This study underscores the importance of innovative instructional media in creating engaging learning environments while supporting better learning outcomes.
